Paralympics
Subject to countries having qualified to the 2008 Paralympic Regatta, athletes entered by each National Paralympic Committee to participate in the 2008 Paralympic Regatta must have:
1. CLASSIFICATION STATUS
A PRS (Paralympic Review Status) or PPS (Permanent Paralympic Status) classification. More information about these classifications can be found in the IFDS Functional Classification System Manual, 1.4 IFDS Classifications. Have competed in an official International Foundation for Disabled Sailing (IFDS) competition between 1 January 2006 and 1 December 2007. In order to comply with this eligibility requirement, IFDS has determined that all events detailed on the IFDS Events Calendar are considered as an "official IFDS competition."For additional IFDS information, please visit

2.4mR Paralympic Boat Specifications
The 2.4mR Specification which applies to the 2008 Paralympic Regatta is as follows:
- Be built by a licensed builder.
- Meet the International 2.4mR Rule.
- All boats shall comply with Appendix K of the International 2.4mR Rule; however, boats built prior to 2004 may apply, to the International 2.4mR Class Association’s Technical Committee, for a keel tip weight exemption. All boats manufactured in 2004 or later shall meet Rule K.5.3 with no exemptions permitted.
