1. Who We Are

The International 2.4mR Class Association (ICA) is the world governing body for the International 2.4mR Class and the 2.4 Norlin One Design Class, operating in partnership with World Sailing.

For the purposes of data protection law, the ICA is the data controller responsible for your personal data collected through this website.

2. Scope of This Policy

This policy applies to personal data collected through:

• The ICA website (www.inter24metre.org), hosted by Vercel
• Email communications sent to or from ICA email addresses (handled via Google Workspace)
• The ICA mailing list and newsletter

It does not cover third-party websites linked from this site, including National Class Association (NCA) websites, World Sailing, social media platforms, or supplier websites. Those sites have their own privacy policies.

3. What Data We Collect and Why

3a. Website visitors

When you visit this website, Vercel (our hosting provider) automatically collects certain technical data as part of normal website operation. This may include:

• IP address
• Browser type and version
• Operating system
• Pages visited and time spent
• Referring URL

This data is used for website security, performance monitoring, and aggregate statistical analysis. It is processed by Vercel on our behalf and is not used to identify individual users. The legal basis for this processing is our legitimate interest in operating a secure and functional website.

3b. Mailing list subscribers

If you choose to subscribe to the ICA newsletter or mailing list, we collect your:

• Full name
• Email address

This information is used solely to send you news, event updates, and other communications relevant to the 2.4mR Class. The legal basis is your consent, given at the point of subscription.

You may unsubscribe at any time by clicking the "unsubscribe" link in any newsletter, or by emailing secretary@inter24metre.org. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before that withdrawal.

3c. Direct email contact

When you contact the ICA by email, your email address and any personal information you include in your message will be used solely to respond to your enquiry and manage our correspondence with you. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in responding to communications directed to the ICA.

Email communications are handled via Google Workspace (see Section 5b below).

3d. Contact form

If you contact us using a form on this website, your message is sent to the ICA secretary by our email delivery provider, Resend (see Section 5d). We keep no copy of it on the website itself: it is passed straight to Resend for delivery and reaches us as an ordinary email. Resend processes it only in order to deliver it. Once we receive it, the same principles as Section 3c apply.

3e. Regatta planner

The regatta planner has two forms. Both work the way Section 3d describes: nothing you type is stored on this website, and Resend delivers it as ordinary email (see Section 5d).

If you submit regattas for the international calendar, your name, your role, your association and your email address are sent to that association's official contact, then to the ICA secretary, and then to our webmaster, so each can confirm the submission in turn. Those details travel inside the confirmation links themselves rather than in a database, and the links stop working after seven days.

If you use the planner to tell your National Class Association or the ICA which regattas you are planning to sail, your name, your email address and the regattas you picked are sent to whichever of them you chose, and a copy is sent to you. We do that because you asked us to, we keep no list of who has sent one, and any reply comes directly to you.

4. Cookies

This website uses cookies. Cookies are small text files placed on your device by your browser when you visit a website.

Cookies set by this website

This website sets no cookies of its own for functionality, and none for advertising. Vercel, our hosting provider, may set strictly necessary cookies as part of delivering and protecting the site, for example:

• Session cookies: to maintain basic site functionality during your visit (for example, remembering if you have dismissed a notice). These expire when you close your browser.
• Performance cookies: to route your request to the nearest server and keep the site responsive.
• Security cookies: to protect the site against fraudulent or malicious activity.

Vercel does not sell personal data collected through these cookies. For full details, see the Vercel Privacy Policy.

Analytics cookies (only if you agree)

We use Google Analytics to understand how many people visit the site and which pages they find useful. Google Analytics sets cookies on your device and sends information about your visit to Google (see Section 5c).

We ask before we do any of this. When you first arrive, a notice at the foot of the page asks whether you agree. Until you press Accept, Google Analytics is not loaded at all: no analytics cookies are set, no data is sent, and no measurement takes place. If you press Decline, we remember that answer and do not ask again on that device. The website behaves identically either way: nothing is withheld, and no feature depends on your answer.

If you do agree, the cookies set are Google's standard analytics cookies, which distinguish one visitor from another and record when a visit began. They do not tell us who you are. Google Analytics is configured to shorten visitor IP addresses before they are stored.

Changing your mind: you can withdraw or give consent at any time using the Your cookie choice control at the end of this policy. Withdrawing is exactly as easy as agreeing was. Your answer is stored in your own browser, not on our servers, so it applies to the device and browser you are using. Clearing your browser data will clear it too, after which we will ask again.

Third-party cookies

If you interact with embedded social media links or content (such as Instagram or Facebook), those platforms may set their own cookies. The ICA has no control over these cookies. Please refer to the relevant platform's privacy policy for details.

Managing cookies

You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling certain cookies may affect the functionality of this website. Most browsers allow you to:

• View which cookies are set
• Delete cookies individually or in bulk
• Block cookies from specific sites or all sites

5. Third-Party Data Processors

We use the following third-party services that process personal data on our behalf. We have data processing agreements in place with these providers, or rely on their published terms of service which include data processing commitments.

5a. Vercel (website hosting and infrastructure)

This website is hosted on the Vercel platform. Vercel processes data generated by your use of this website, including the technical data described in Section 3a.

Vercel Inc. is based in the United States. Data may be transferred to and processed in the US. Vercel provides appropriate safeguards for international data transfers, including standard contractual clauses.

5b. Google (email)

ICA email accounts (at the inter24metre.org domain) are operated using Google Workspace. Emails sent to or from ICA addresses are processed and stored on Google's infrastructure.

Google LLC is based in the United States. Under our Google Workspace agreement, Google acts as a data processor and does not use Workspace customer data to serve advertising.

5c. Google Analytics (website measurement)

If, and only if, you agree to analytics cookies, Google Analytics processes information about your visit, including the pages you view, the approximate location derived from your shortened IP address, and technical details such as your browser and device type. This is used to produce aggregate visitor statistics for the ICA. It is not used to identify you, and we do not combine it with any other information you give us.

The lawful basis for this processing is your consent, which you may withdraw at any time (see Section 4). Google LLC is based in the United States and data may be transferred there; Google relies on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses for such transfers. We have not enabled Google Analytics advertising features, and the data is not used to serve you advertising.

5d. Resend (form delivery)

Messages sent through the forms on this website are delivered to the ICA secretary by Resend, an email delivery service. Resend processes the contents of your message, together with the name and email address you provide, solely in order to deliver it to us. It does not use your data for its own purposes.

Resend (Plus Five Five, Inc.) is based in the United States. Data may be transferred to and processed in the US under standard contractual clauses. Delivery records are retained by Resend for a limited period so that failed messages can be diagnosed.

5e. Social media platforms

Links to the ICA's Facebook and Instagram pages are provided on this website for convenience. If you click those links and interact with those platforms, your data is processed by Meta Platforms, Inc. under their own terms. The ICA does not receive personal data from those platforms through the links on this site.

6. How We Share Your Data

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:

• With our data processors: Vercel, Google and Resend, as described above, acting under our instruction.
• Where required by law: if we are legally obliged to disclose information to a regulatory body, law enforcement, or court.
• With your NCA: if you specifically request that we connect you with your National Class Association, we may pass your contact details to the relevant NCA officer. We will tell you when we intend to do this.

7. International Data Transfers

The ICA is a global organisation. Your data may be processed in countries outside your own, including the United States, where Vercel, Google and Resend infrastructure is based.

Where personal data originating in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom is transferred outside those territories, we rely on appropriate transfer mechanisms, including the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (for Google) and standard contractual clauses (for Vercel and Resend), where applicable.

8. Data Retention

• Website technical data: request logs are retained by Vercel in accordance with its data retention policies.
• Analytics data: where you have agreed to analytics cookies, visit data is retained by Google Analytics for the period set in the ICA's account and then deleted automatically. Google's maximum for visitor-level data of this kind is 14 months. If you have not agreed, no analytics data exists to retain.
• Form messages: delivery records are held briefly by Resend so that failed messages can be diagnosed. The message itself is retained as ordinary email correspondence, below.
• Mailing list data: retained for as long as you remain subscribed. On unsubscription, your details are removed from active mailing lists promptly.
• Email correspondence: retained for as long as reasonably necessary to manage ongoing class administration. Routine enquiries are not archived beyond the current sailing year.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data. Residents of the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, and many other jurisdictions have the right to:

• Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Rectification: ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Erasure: ask us to delete your personal data, subject to any legal obligations to retain it.
• Restriction: ask us to restrict processing of your data in certain circumstances.
• Objection: object to processing based on legitimate interests.
• Portability: receive your personal data in a structured, machine-readable format.
• Withdraw consent: where processing is based on consent (for example, newsletter subscription), you may withdraw consent at any time.

We will respond within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity before processing a request.

Right to complain

If you are in the EEA or UK and believe we have not handled your data lawfully, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection supervisory authority. In the UK, this is the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). In other EEA countries, the relevant authority is your national Data Protection Authority.

10. Children's Privacy

This website is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at secretary@inter24metre.org and we will take steps to delete it.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

Continued use of this website after any changes constitutes acknowledgement of the updated policy, but where processing is based on your consent, we will seek fresh consent if required by law.
